Re: FontCreator 14 Pro. Export font as...
I'd like to see a way to set the filename on export as well. Right now, it appears that the filename is created using the default PostScript Name, a dash, and then the Style Name. I tried changing the PostScript Name to see if that changes the export filename, but it does not. I suspect this choice ...

Re: Shadow Effects in FontCreator
Since any shadow effect by FontCreator will be algorithmic in nature, it really won't be much different from shadow effects offered by drawing programs. I'd rather buy a really well-done font with no shadow and then add whatever kind of shadow I want using my drawing program of choice than try and f...

Re: underscores
I've seen a few commercial fonts that still have the glyph names embedded which violate the spec Bhikkhu referred to in various ways (spaces, starts with number, etc.). FontCreator handles these errors with no problem, and if you export a font without glyph names (the default in FontCreator), there ...

Re: Suggestion for Metrics
That's definitely a good use case for such a table, and certainly acceptable to even the most overprotective about font intellectual property.1940LaSalle wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 7:02 pm Definitely not talking about cloning metrics; rather, looking for some rough equivalent of what I'll call good practices.

Re: Errors in CompositeData.xml
That does not seem to make any difference, but it is easily fixed, so I updated the archive attached to the linked thread again. Yeah, anything "outside" a tag seems to be ignored, even if it is inside some parent tag. The XML validator/formatter I use noticed it in "strict" mod...

I missed one more:

[FIXED] Errors in CompositeData.xml
In FontCreator 11.5.0.2427, 64-bit: The default "CompositeData.xml" created by "Copy Data Files to User Data Folder" in the options dialog has some small errors: <Composite> <!-- small g --> - spurious "g" after </InheritSB> <Composite> <!-- Unmapped Proportional zero -...

Re: Please help identify this font
Nothing in the nearly 1000 handwriting fonts I have matches.
Since it's so easy to convert handwriting into a font (Scanahand, Microsoft Font Creator, etc.), it's not at all unlikely that this is a one-off, never published font.

Re: File|New default glyph/character list
using an existing font and transforming it into what you want has many advantages ( Cadman originally started out as Munson ) for instance if starting out with one of your previous working fonts you know all the Open Type features are already done and working, the kerning will need to be re-done an...

Re: Add Units per em conversion
I just use the Transform Dialog or the Transformation Wizard , depending on whether its one glyph or many. They have a Scale tab (or Scale command) and you can easily work out the scale factor if you know the 'units per em' of each font, then just use absolute scaling from a fixed point ( 0,0 ) and...

[FIXED] Insert glyph transform cuts off last character in glyph name list
In FontCreator 11.5.0.2427, 64-bit: I discovered this when using the built-in "Unmapped Proportional Figures" transform script, which didn't complete all the composites correctly because the last glyph was named "nine.pnu" instead of "nine.pnum". The problem happens reg...

Add Units per em conversion
Currently, if a user has two fonts with different "units per em" settings, when they copy and paste an entire glyph between the two fonts, FontCreator does the right thing and re-scales the units per em on the paste so the outlines are the right size. The re-scaling does not happen if you ...

Re: File|New default glyph/character list
The character set is hard-wired into FontCreator. Since pretty much everything else about characters and glyphs are controlled by the config files, perhaps this could be changed to use a file too. I suspect XML would be the best, as it would allow listing of every glyph that should be inserted, plu...

File|New default glyph/character list
When you create a new font project with FontCreator, it creates a font with 236 glyphs, including one unmapped (.notdef) and 9 multi-mapped. Is there anything that the user can modify that controls the glyphs that are included, and the Unicode mappings? By changing glyph names in glyphname.dat, it's...

Re: Add a preview renderer like the one in MainType and the "Test OTF" window
This affects too many things, including validation. By changing it, FontCreator will completely miss some incorrect contours that it now finds. It will also see others as "incorrect direction", even though they are not.Erwin Denissen wrote: ↑Fri Jul 27, 2018 12:09 pm You could try to change the glyph outline fill mode:
