I found the solution for the first issue:
It is simply to put some number in the code points. It should not be empty.
After I put (basically I copied from another glyph and just added a digit to it) this code, then it appears on Symbol on Word.

Do the glyphs show up in the Font Test Window? If they do, leave the Window open, switch to Word, and select the Test font in Word.
