Thanks... but... why does such an option exist in the first place, is there a way it gets set -- and stays set -- without going to it through the menu, and what purpose does it serve?

A couple weeks ago I was still on v13, and noticed that glyphs had stopped drawing altogether in the main window / preview panel, but were rendering when I opened up individual glyphs for editing.
