Made with: FontCreator Professional
Version 11.5.0.2430 (64-bit)
Bern-suits is a chromatic font intended for use at text sizes.
I made it to catalogue my collection of playing cards. All the characters are suit signs.

Bern-cursive - my joined-up font
My aim was to imitate my joined-up handwriting as a boy. (My current handwriting is rather different.) The ascenders and descenders are childish and match the x-height. The font is monoline to imitate a ballpoint pen. I do not intend inflicting this font on the wider world. I wanted to explore conte...

Re: Connecting marks with cursive attachments ?
There is a third possibility. W3C establishes standards for web browsers but no browser implements all of them correctly. Sometimes a feature is rendered correctly by the browser on screen but not in print or in the print preview. It may be that your code is correct, and that FontCreator has process...

Re: Arabic-style script with initial, medial etc. forms
What is pausal? Is it "before punctuation that indicates a pause" such as comma, stop etc?

Re: Question re working with color
I have found my version 11 procedure at last. Procedure for chromatic fonts in FontCreator 11.0 Professional Edition 1. “Color mode” icon (below “Window” menu) select “Monochrome” or “Auto” not “Color”. 2. Insert extra glyphs after each glyph that needs colours 1. Original glyph contains unaltered c...

Re: Question re working with color
This is the procedure that I worked out for chromatic fonts in FontCreator 9.1 Professional Edition 1. “Color mode” icon (below printer icon) select “Monochrome” or “Auto” not “Color”. 2. Insert extra glyphs after each glyph that needs colours 1. Original glyph contains unaltered contours. (This sho...

playing card font
I am using FontCreator 11.5 Professional. In the past we made symbol fonts with code points up to (decimal) 255. Nowadays we are encouraged to make Unicode fonts and put the symbols in the code points assigned by Unicode. (I have no problem with this.) I would like to make a font for playing cards. ...

Re: Window resizing bug (in OTD)?
I have the same problem.
I use 11.5.0.2421 (64-bit) Professional.
I cannot use the double-headed yellow arrow, because I cannot see it

Re: Yes italic, no regular
“-ib9” at the end of a word is “-ibus”, the dative or ablative plural of a third declension noun or adjective.
“-q3” at the end of a word is “-que”, a suffixed “and”.
“faueāt” is “faveant”.
However, I am not going to attempt a translation.

Re: Tool to measure font colour
My original aim was to measure (for each glyph) the ratio of the area of ink to the area of the rectangle formed by WinAscent, WinDescent, the left side bearing, and the right side bearing. The purpose was not to compare the colour of different fonts, but how much colour varies between letters withi...

Re: Tool to measure font colour
I really want to learn about font colour because I know so little about it. In “Designing Type” Cheng writes: “…The disadvantages of the classic system led to the creation of the new, ‘modern’ system… Modern proportions are based on achieving even colour; each letter is designed to contain the same ...

Re: Cyrillic Blackletter font
Two years ago in Salonica I took a picture of this shop sign (6552.jpg). It uses three Greek styles. The interesting one is the middle one. It appears to be Greek made to look like textura. I guess that it reads: “Γ. Ελεvιδη”. I think it shows a compromise between keeping Greek letter shapes and usi...
