Re: What is the advantage of exporting the "Legacy Kern Table"

There are applications that still do not use gpos but do use the kern table.

Re: FC11 64-bit: Minor bugs/problems after upgrading

I'm using a 1600 x 900 laptop much of the time. It uses the 24 x 24 icons. My Windows scaling is 100% (I think) but don't have an opportunity to start it up at the moment to check.

Re: Copy/Paste from Illustrator

Oh, I'll bring glyphs into the newest version, Erwin. But I'll export the OTF and open in v.9 in order to test code, make code changes and see the effect of the code--it's not about feature order. Any coding changes I do in v.9 are simply copied and pasted into v.11. So the glyphs are not round-trip...

Re: Copy/Paste from Illustrator

The real downside with a downgrade is the lack of cubic bezier support. Nah, not really. One can do the work-flow using a previous version that operates as one became accustomed to, then once the glyphs are in, open that project in 11 and convert the curves if so desired. That is one reason I keep ...

Re: OpenType Features: Order of Precedence

Oops. And the frac feature is...complicated.

There are 13 chaining contexts. I believe I based it upon Tal Leming's Fraction Fever code. So while not an infinite arbitrary fraction feature, I doubt people will be using more than it can handle.

Re: OpenType Features: Order of Precedence

Cannot share the font project. However, the ordinals is a chaining context and the code is: lookup ChainingContext15 { context (@Numerals) @ords; sub 0 MultipleSubstitution2; context (@ords2) @ords; sub 0 MultipleSubstitution2; } @ords is simply the alpha characters I use (which isn't the entire low...

Re: Please help ident this font. Tnx! :)

Bitstream produced that font in two names, ShelleyAllegro BT (Regular) and English111 Vivace BT (Regular). It appears to me an outline has also been used to make it heavier in your screen shot.

Re: Modifying glyph names

Regular Expressions are very powerful at pattern matching. This should be well up to any ways you want to modify glyph names. As mentioned in the opening post, we can copy glyph names and paste into a text file. They end up one line per name. Which would be easier, writing a regex and hopefully cat...

Re: Modifying glyph names

I am uncertain how a single f/r for glyph names will aid anyone much less myself.

So I would prefer my original request stand. Thank you.

Re: What is this font?

There might be a font like that. I couldn't find one. It may be that for the logo it is merely modified text as a graphic. I say that because in no other communication of theirs does that type style get used. It is always an image even when it otherwise could have been text (like in their PDFs). Mike

Re: Adding Ligatures in place of Kerning.

The OS makes it possible for applications to query fonts as to the font construct and any features available. It is up to the applications to implement those features. I don't know about the MacOS, but in Windows there are at least two programmatic methods of both querying the OS and using/displayin...
