Re: National Health Service (UK) font guidelines

Ok ... so I got the name wrong! I almost never use 'Arial' except at work where it is mandated (and even then I sometimes sustitute Calibri and nobody notices). Oh, you putting Ariel rather than Arial serendipitously had the effect of me finding some very interesting things that I did not kn...

Re: The jè mark, a Dutch "typographic shrug"

Hi Alfred Thank you for a very interesting link. As for whether it, and others, will get into Unicode, well, look at what has happened with emoji as there was much discussion and, if I remember correctly, the original reason for the decision to include them into Unicode was they were being used in m...

Re: National Health Service (UK) font guidelines

I noticed that PJMiller mentioned Ariel (with an e) whereas the typeface is Arial (with an a). Seeing Ariel, I remembered that there was a Britannia class steam locomotive named Ariel. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_BR_%27Britannia%27_Class_locomotives I found it as number 70016. From time to...

Re: National Health Service (UK) font guidelines

Hi Alfred

I have found the following.

http://www.nhsscotlandci.scot.nhs.uk/wp ... elines.pdf

Section 4 is about fonts.

It is interesting that the NHS has different fonts in Scotland and England.

National Health Service (UK) font guidelines

I have been reading the following web page with interest. https://www.england.nhs.uk/nhsidentity/identity-guidelines/fonts/ This is for the National Health Service in the United Kingdom. The National Health Service is the mostly free-at-the-point-of-need State healthcare system in the United Kingdom...

If you look in https://www.youtube.com/ and search for

Emoji MoMA

there are some videos, some showing the exhibition, which are interesting as some of the displayed images change.

The Insert Free Draw Contours facility

I am using FontCreator 8.0. ---- There is the Tools Import Image... facility. When doing that one can choose various options, including threshold level and a smooth filter. ---- There is the facility to paste an image from the clipboard and contours are generated by FontCreator. I have found in the ...

I notice that the font supports Esperanto. Excellent. Re: How to Add Beams to Notes?

Thank you Alfred. My suggestion has worked out well. Michael has posted to the Unicode mailing list and there are some replies. One has a very helpful link. Here is a link to that reply. http://www.unicode.org/mail-arch/unicode-ml/y2017-m05/0011.html The post provides a link to the http://www.smufl....

Re: Munson

I have been looking at the Roman and the Italic. I remember Monotype Modern Roman from metal type. Munson Roman has the upward hook lower right on both a lowercase a and on an uppercase R and that looks good. Modern Roman and Modern Italic were often used for typesetting of mathematical text books, ...
