Re: Legal

Hi Bhikkhu, Thanks for this. I had not thought of it that way. We changed the name of the font to ensure that the altered version is unique but of course that raises the idea that it may be a "new" font - not a modification of the existing one. Quite rightly one would retain the original c...

Legal

Hello, On request from a client I am modifying an existing font to include punctuation that was missing. The client has contacted the creator and obtained permission but did not ask for any written confirmation. How does she go about fulfilling the legal requirements and could someone explain the us...

Re: Font Names and Projects

Hi,

Getting there - One oddity - if I increment the Revision to 1.500 this shows in the autogenerate fields but after exporting a ttf this revision version does not show up in a font preview, even though the time stamp indicates it is a new ttf file export?

Missing something?

Font Names and Projects

HI, I am still confused as to the workflow in Font Creator 8. There seems to be no specific information on a Projects properties as you would expect and the Project seems to relate in some way to whichever font you have selected in the Project Window. The internal font name seems to be "disconn...

Re: inDesign will not package font

Hi There, Yes the package is being sent to a print shop and you are spot on - she has added the font after packaging and that seems to be just fine. It's just concerning as to why it happens and changes her work flow a bit. Read up that it may be a locked font issue in inDesign on the Mac, so she is...

Re: inDesign will not package font

Hi Thanks for this. The font properties are set to "Editable (read write)". The two tick boxes: No subsetting and bitmap embedding only are not ticked I will check to see if they are able to export a PDF. I imagine a pdf is likely to want to create embedded bitmaps or can it contain the ac...

Re: inDesign will not package font

Hi Alfred, Thanks for your help with this. Not sure how to determine the rights. The project is for a school and they purchased or acquired a chalk font and discovered it had no punctuation, plus some characters were unsuitable, so I added punctuation and tweaked some characters. Since the font does...

inDesign will not package font

Hello help please, Made some pretty simple modifications to a font for a media project for video and print but InDesign refuses to deal with the font and stops creating the package. The only way to succeed seems to be to remove this font do the packaging and then adding it as as a resource later. I ...

Where did Format go ?

Keep happily hitting tutorials that suddenly say " Go to Format / do something" and that makes the tutorial null and void in FC 8
Where did those functionalities go...please
Thank you

Re: Disappearing characters

HI Thanks Mike - I am helping someone who is using inDesign and not that familiar with it myself so thanks for the clarification. She is kind of stressed at getting a publication out so your feedback is really making a difference - thank you and she has succeeded in finding a switch. I did export an...

Re: Disappearing characters

Hi Thanks for the help guys Erwin - do you mean that I should check the individual character "f" to see if it has outlines? and then the "i" if so - where do I do that? Also I assume that to export without OpenType features mean saying "no"to the OpenType GPOS Table and...
