Re: Panose Icons

Just automating the measurements needed to determine the Panose numbers would be a great help.

Open Type Localisation

If I have a table which contains a set of ligatures in the 'Default' section so that it is available in all scripts and then I place a similar table which contains a subset of those ligatures in the 'Localisation' section of a country's script does that make the ligatures which were in the default s...

Re: Unnecessary Advertising

Maybe it has something to do with the other piece of software which I am testing out at the moment.

Unnecessary Advertising

Sometimes Main Type brings up a message about 'Want to make your own fonts ? Why not give Font Creator a try ?'.

Surely there is some way of supressing this message if Font Creator is already installed or indeed if Main Type has been launched from Font Creator.

Just a thought.

The lower case italics were ripped out of Bhikkhu Pesala's Acariya font and then horribly mutilated to make them look the way I wanted them to look, so I cheated.

Re: Munson

The glyph outlines are excellent, but the long descending arms on the T will cause issues with kerning of pairs like Ta, Te, To, Tu, Tw, Ty. Perhaps it would work better if they were shorter to allow lowercase glyphs to kern more tightly? On the other hand why don't I just make them a lot longer so...

Re: Munson

The lowercase x of Modern Italic is the well-known way that people write x in algebra. Munson Italic has that look. Very good. Turn of the century Maths Textbook equation italic is exactly the look I was going for. I noticed the glyph for U+2055 FLOWER PUNCTUATION MARK. I found the Unicode code cha...

Re: Munson

I had a look at the Regular type style, and noticed a few issues: ⋅ Run the Font Validation wizard to find intersecting contours ⋅ Some composites are different advance width, e.g. ú ü etc. ⋅ The Fraction feature does not work properly, e.g. 1/4 works, but 0/00, 1/2, 1...

This is a work in progress. It isn't finished and there are virtually no open type features on anything except the roman font except for what was copied from an earlier version of roman and I am still experimenting with Chaining Contexts and what can be done with them. There is no kerning and all th...

Re: Traditional Arabic font; trado.ttf question....

Many applications don't support Open Type features. A word processor 'should' display it correctly, Microsoft Word probably will and so will Libre Office. Also Desktop Publishing applications like Page Plus will probably work OK. However text editors like Notepad++ and Editpad don't usually have Ope...

Re: Transform Wizard Scripts - History

I start all the names with A_<script name> so they all appear at the top of the list and this works quite well but I can see that the sort by date modified might be good if the script is classed as being modified whenever it is loaded. If this is not the case then it would just list them in the orde...

Re: Modifying glyph names

Regular Expressions are very powerful at pattern matching.

This should be well up to any ways you want to modify glyph names.

Pilcrow

Should the Pilcrow (paragraph) sign $B6 be italicised in an italic font ?

Some fonts have it italicised and some don't, which one is correct ?

Re: FontCreator vs FontForge

I sure hope that is not the only reason  Well, no, it's also because you're Dutch, en ik ben ook vanuit Nederland (at least, my parents were) and it is NL where printing with moveable type all began (with my namesake, Meneer LJ Koster, in Haarlem back around 1440). So there's two reasons. ;) ...
