Re: Auto-update borks Maintype 12

I am sorry to hear you have issues with the latest update. Since this is no longer a coincidence, we do suspect some issue within the software. I hope we can find a solution soon, but right now we are not able to reproduce the problem, so it might take some time.

Re: Serif / Sans listed incorrectly

You can make groups to categorize your fonts, but I also suggest you take a look at Tags. See the Quick Start Tutorial . Custom views are also very useful, but that functionality is not available in the free edition. The Serif/ Sans Serif information is stored in the fonts, and font designers do mak...

Re: Problem with left bearing at 0 fixed point.

I understand this might have worked in an earlier release, but with recent improvements, some things just work a little different.

Would auto attach with a center anchor work?

Not sure how the current public version behaves, but this is how it works in the latest upcoming release.

Re: Ligatures Transparent Overlapping

Actually the topic should have been posted in the FontCreator forums, as the only license I see is a FontCreator one. I will move the topic from Scanahand support to the correct forum.

Re: Ligatures Transparent Overlapping

FontCreator can detect contours with a wrong direction. Click the Correct contour directions button on the Validation panel to correct the direction of all misoriented contours or select Direction from the Edit menu to change the direction of the selected contour(s).

Re: Fonts stuck

Active fonts with a red indicator are fonts that are not permanently installed, but temporary loaded by external software.

To get rid of them, you need to find out which software loads the fonts. Then either find a setting to stop it, or remove the external software from your computer.

Re: Make Variable Font From Multiple Font Weight and Italic files

If you just want a variable Poppins then download it from the source: https://github.com/itfoundry/Poppins Alternatively use the available .glyphs file and open it in FontCreator to make changes if required. If you want to know a more generic way to join multiple font styles into a variable font, th...

Re: Changing font name

The font has style name set to Roman, but that is not the recommended style font as Windows expect Regular. Some applications might have issues with your naming convention. If you insist on using Roman and want it to be part of the same family, then uncheck the box as shown in the screenshot. Roman....

Re: Ligatures Transparent Overlapping

I suspect some contours have the wrong direction.

For TrueType based outlines, thus with quadratic bezier curves, the outer contour should be clockwise and the inner contour counter-clockwise.

Please send all original fonts from that family to us along with the changed font, so we can look into the issue.
