High-Logic Font Installer 1.0
I have just uninstalled MainType 3 since MainType 4 does everything that I need.
I see that there is still a program called "High-Logic Font Installer 1.0" — is that required by FontCreator 6.5 or MainType 4 or can it be uninstalled now?

Re: Importing DXF vector drawings
Did you have to join each point manually with the tool you use or did this happen automatically? In PagePlus (or DrawPlus) I have to join the end points one at a time, but snapping makes it quite easy. I can get a decent result pasting a 600 dpi bitmap of your font grabbed from the PDF. Is it inten...

Re: Is it possible to write a macro to automatically mix gl
There are plenty of macro-recorder utilities available — including some free ones.
Try a Google search for "Keyboard Macro Utility."
Macro programming is not built in to FontCreator, though one can do some automated Transformations to rotate or resize glyphs.

Re: Importing DXF vector drawings
They are in the PDF. I don't have Adobe Illustrator, and have never used it, but the paths need to be continuous, not separate lines.sascher wrote:Of course the endpoints of the lines in the drawings are not broken apart.
Have you tried drawing directly in FornCreator? It would save all these extra steps.

Re: Fixed Height & Width Font
Thanks, yes, you're right about the default for em being 2048. Is that a good standard that I should be using - will my fonts all be 1/2 as large as others if I leave it at 1024? Funits/em is a setting like DPI — higher values allow finer details that would only be visible at large sizes. The defau...

Re: Importing Images- eps files
You can attach EPS files as Zip or 7z. Try drawing the letters on the same paper size. The PDF files of the separate letters are on different paper sizes: B= 1.15" x 1.67" e = 1.02" 1.39" I have imported them to PagePlus to a 2" x 2" page and exported them as new PDF fi...

Re: Importing DXF vector drawings
Yes. If I import the PDF into PagePlus I can see, instead of two contours as expected, that it is composed of broken lines. A PDF Exploded.png I have "exploded" the construction lines so that you can see what the problem is. The A should be just two contours, one inner triangle, and one cl...

Re: Fixed Height & Width Font
2048 is not the default for type ascender — it is the default for funits/em.

Only those vector formats listed are supported.
Try printing from Solid Works to a PDF printer driver like Cute PDF.

Re: List All Characters
The main benefit of creating a symbol font is that users can type the symbols with the standard keyboard. If you open the Preview Toolbar (shortcut F8) and select abcd... from the drop list you can see which symbols will be typed with which letters.

Re: Importing Images- eps files
I recommend designing the glyphs about 3 to 5 at a time on several landscape pages, and exporting them one page at a time as PDF files. Then drag and drop those PDF files into FontCreator. I had no problem with the separate PDF files coming in at different sizes — they were all the same scale. Cut an...

Re: Odd request
TypoPhile is a forum well worth joining for expert help. Also you could experiment with Calibri and Cambria (shipping versions) as they contain embedded bitmaps at key sizes - these were inserted to improve rendering when CT and regular antialaising were turned off, or under certain terminal server...
