Re: Localizable Sentences Experiment font support

Here is a font with two symbols in it. They are my own designs. They are for Hi! and Bye!. They are intended for informal communication through the language barrier. I have been using the symbols in the following thread to produce a design for a tote bag. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/...

Re: FontCreator 8 used in futuristic experiment

There has been a development in that the following document has been published yesterday. https://www.unicode.org/L2/L2019/19203-wd-uts51-17-draft.pdf I refer to Annex C.2 of that document. In that section the use of U+1F194 SQUARED ID is suggested as the base character for QID emoji. I have thought...

Re: FontCreator 8 used in futuristic experiment

Ah, well it seems to still be there, but it seems that one may need to be registered to download it. However, I logged off and tried and I got a different message from the one that you got. However, no problem, I am attaching the font here. [Note of 2019-04-06 Saturday A new version of the font has ...

Re: Number of possible characters in a substitution statement

I have just made a test font with the following substitution using sixteen characters at the left-side of the substitution statement and it works well in Affinity Publisher. Here is the substitution statement. sub uniEFF8 uE0031 uE0032 uE0033 uE0034 uE0035 uE0036 uE0037 uE0038 uE0039 uE0030 uE0031 u...

Re: Number of possible characters in a substitution statement

I'll take a look at the limit if you try to exceed 32000 glyphs  It is not a matter of how many glyphs are in the font, it is a matter of how many characters can be listed in the left-side of a sub statement. For example, if it is fifteen then all is well for this usage, if it is ten then ther...

Number of possible characters in a substitution statement

You may have noticed the following thread. https://forum.high-logic.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=7941 This question arises from that experiment but there is no need to read that thread in relation to this question, it is just the reason why I am asking. In that font I used a liga glyph substitution ...

FontCreator 8 used in futuristic experiment

Today I made a font using FontCreator version 8 and it works a treat. Gold star to FontCreator. The story is in the following thread. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/82885-can-you-find-the-white-crested-tiger-heron/ Two high class software programs and a good result. The font is at...

Keeping the cells in the font also has the advantage that should you at some future time want to add to the capabilities of a particular font, the cells would be already there in place rath...

Re: Should I delete all my empty glyphs?

However, if you do delete all the unused Private Use Area (PUA) cells that each contain nothing, then if some user of your font uses one of those PUA code points then the Windows operating system might insert a Japanese character. So as you wrote: > In each of my fonts I have tons and tons of empty ...

Re: Italicizer Maquette font

> Why not just use the italics button on your word processor it's much simpler.

Because this is about plain text not rich text as is used in a word processor program to store information about when to use italics.

One or more colour palettes are stored in the font of a CPAL COLR font, it is the CPAL table.

Re: Colour fonts - SVG and CPAL and COLR

Hi Mike Thank you for replying. ... be able to alter the color palettes of such fonts (which may be impossible, but ya never know) ... It would seem to be very easy to alter the CPAL/COLR specification to allow for this, though I have not done it so I cannot be sure. At present, colour FFFF can be u...

Colour fonts - SVG and CPAL and COLR

Alas, I have not kept up to date with OpenType developments. I asked about colour font support for the Serif Affinity Publisher program, and a recent post seems to suggest that SVG rather than the CPAL and COLR format is the thing now. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/78185-will-aff...

Re: Italicizer Maquette font

As a result of reading the following post in the thread in the Unicode mailing list, http://www.unicode.org/mail-arch/unicode-ml/y2019-m01/0038.html I have made a version of the font that uses Variation Selector 14. Here is the OpenType code. script latn { # Latin feature StandardLigatures1; } featu...
