Re: Edit font and resave not overwriting original font

Setting aside the fact that editing Comic Sans MS is almost certainly a technical breach of copyright, even if the amended version is only for your own use, you should be editing a copy of the file rather than the installed original. Which version of FontCreator do you have, and what version of Wind...

Re: Importing glyphs as vectors from pdf artwork

Also, is it possible to import all eight glyphs from the pdf into FontCreator as vectors please? If you have FontCreator 7.5, start by creating a separate PDF file for each glyph. You can then select all eight files in Windows Explorer, drag them into FontCreator and drop them onto the first glyph ...

Re: Adjusting Tracking

Select the space character in the glyph overview, press F3 to display the Glyph Properties toolbar, adjust the RSB (right side bearing) value and press 'Apply'. This will change the advance width for the selected glyph.

Re: Problem with > in Autometrics

I did a search of OS(C:) for "CompositeData.xml" and did not find it. I did find "Subscript.xml" but I don't know why. Where can the file be hiding? Mike You should find it in: C:\Program Files (x86)\High-Logic FontCreator\Composites The folder 'High-Logic FontCreator\Composites...

Re: Some letters looking different

First I change the font into a vector curve, smoothened the upper end of the n, exported is as eps, imported it in FC, saved the changes, and installed it with FC. After reopening the file, the outline was like before. In FC I see no possibility to change the outline, because it is rightly displaye...

Erwin Denissen wrote:Note: For people who fear this is not allowed, don't worry as changing the glyph name in version 7.5 is perfectly fine, since on export FontCreator will automatically rename the glyph name back to .notdef, but after the script has been compiled.

Yes, I think that's the explanation. I recall wanting to send a PM shortly after registering to use these forums, but I had to post four or five times before the feature became enabled.

Re: Announcing The Unicode Standard, Version 7.0

Thanks, Erwin. I didn't have a Unicode subfolder in my %AppData%\FontCreator folder, but after I created one and put those files into it the new Unicode blocks showed up within the program. :)

The ubiquitous IrfanView includes a feature named HEXView (accessed via the F3 function key) but it's nice to see an 'in-house' solution. 8)

Re: New National Currency Symbol - Russian Ruble

Last week the Unicode consortium announced the new Ruble sign will be assigned to codepoint $20BD. Thanks for the update. I just published my Kabala font update with the Russian Ruble assigned to code-point $20BD, so I had better change it a.s.a.p. Somebody here is a little confused. I think it mig...

Re: Beyond 65K Characters

You can use reserved characters, but if you do, later the Unicode consortium might assign them to something else and your font would then not show the glyph newly assigned to that code-point. Thanks. So 'Greek and Coptic 144/134' really means "in the Greek and Coptic block, you have used 144 c...

Re: Beyond 65K Characters

Well, the block size is indeed 144, but there are 10 not defined/assigned. See: http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U0370.pdf Thanks for the explanation (and the link) but if ten are not defined/assigned, how would you use them? And if you can't use them, shouldn't the list say 'Greek and Coptic 134/...

Re: Beyond 65K Characters

Very impressive, Erwin, but what's the explanation for the strange totals in some of the Unicode ranges (e.g. Greek and Coptic 144/134)? :? There are a couple of gaps in those specific character ranges, and since I included whole blocks (e.g. $0370–$03FF) I included those as well. Not something you...
