I just posted a question about how the Quick Search panel covers up the font list. Then I figured it out: Click any view in the View panel.

I left your question, because it may help others.
It also highlights a defect in the Quick Search facility. If you refine your search, then a different list of fonts will show up. However, if you delete the entire search string, no fonts at all will be listed.
In my opinion, if the quick search field is empty then all fonts should be shown — or perhaps the Escape key should reset the search filter to NUL.
