Error on Startup

Post by cybercanvas »

I am running MainType 6 in evaluation mode under Windows XP SP3. When I launch it I immediatly get the "Ooops. lost connection..." message and it quits. Any ideas?

Maybe the font service is blocked by your anti virus software.

Was working previously, but I have put an explicit "Allow" into my anti-virus just in case... no change. Also, even after the Oops message when I run the FMSConfig it shows the font service as "Installed, running" and the FMSProxy as "running, connected". The message says "MainType has lost the connection to the font service. Please restart the font service through the FMSConfig utility and then restart MainType..." I have done this many, many times... it has never worked.

You could try a full uninstall, and the reinstall it. You might want to make a backup through FmsConfig before uninstalling. Let us know your results.

I can only do the backup if MainType is running... which it won't. I will, however, try the full un/re.

No luck. Very same error after un/re.

I was optimistic at the outset, but this kind of instability can really cut into productivity.
