I lost all of my groups

Post by heathert »

Ok, I just installed the MainType 7.0... and it ate all my groups. For 25,110 fonts.

I was on the MT6 Beta group, and whenever it installed, it kept all the old info, so I didn't even think to back it up before installation this time. The fonts are all indicating groups, but only one random folder is showing in the Groups panel.

My tags are showing in the View panel, but not down in the Font Tags panel.

Any tips on where I can go to find the secret files?

Thanks!
Heather

I don't know why the groups are lost, but there is a visual glitch in that hides part of the Font Tags panel.

Maybe you inadvertently modified or removed a font folder from the Font Folder dialog.

Could you show us the Font Folder dialog?

I've just mailed you both, so we can find the cause of this problem.

I believe that groups will disappear if you disable "Keep in sync", but maybe there's something else happening here.

That is indeed true, but all virtual groups (manually added, or through the "Create groups after indexing") will remain.

We are sorry about the inconvenience. This is caused by a bug we just fixed a minute ago.

In MainType, select Help from the main menu, and then click Check for Updates.

This will allow you to install the new release with the bug fix.

Pheeeeeew! Everything seems back in order. It ate my panel display sizes, but that is easily fixable. :D Erwin, I just mailed you back--sorry for the delay--but it seems like an on-screen consultation isn't needed now, so no need to respond! Thanks again for the bugfix. =)

Thanks a lot. Was quite a shock when I first opened the program.
But with the new version all is good. :-)

It was a last minute change; actually one line of code that caused the groups to remain hidden. I'm sorry about the inconvenience, but I'm glad it works again.

I hope you enjoy the new features!
