Every time I open MainType 7 I have a list of 974 fonts that are auto opened. how do I remove the fonts so it only opens the ones I want?

MainType shows the Active Fonts by default. That's a sensible choice.

You have 974 fonts installed. If you want, you can uninstall fonts that you never use, but be careful not to remove any Windows system fonts.

Create groups from your font folders, or tag fonts to filter them from the main database.

It seems one or more Font Folders in your MainType have enabled the "Install Fonts after Sync" feature. If you don't want this, do uncheck it.
