questions from a newbie designer....
i'm confused about the issue of converting fonts for Mac users. I can't quite find the
answers here. What i really want is a free instant conversion program...
I realise i need to compress the fonts differently. But since i'm making a little family,
what about this 'suitcase' container. Do i need to get involved with that, or does the
installation do it for me somehow? And then the 'data fork' thing... that seems to be the
tricky part. And getting the mapping correct... It's all soooooo confusing.
I ask because ther's only 1 Mac in the local internet cafe: i'll try to install on it, but
i'll only get one trial. If i go ahead with a test prematurely i won't trust the results of
subsequent tests...
I'm not using any of the new open type features: no hinting, just kerning.
Thanks for help, pointers to answers, and so on. Best wishes to all

Fonts created with FontCreator can be used on both Macintosh and Windows platforms. Mac OS X provides native support for TrueType and OpenType fonts. In case you want to use the font on older Mac systems, you need a converter. Here are some:
CrossFont v5.1 for Windows from Acute Systems (US $45.00):

TransType v3.0 for Mac and Windows from FontLab (US $179.00):

TTConverter v1.5 for Mac from Chris Reed (US$ 10.00):
Last updated in 1993 but still available on the internet.
