Kerning in Microsoft Word

Why wont kerning show in Word 2003 - even when it's checked on?

In Word 2003 kerning is applied through
Format / Font / Check: Kerning for fonts: Enter: __ Points and Above
Works for me on a font I kerned in FC.
Top one is kerned. Bottom one is not kerned. Same document. (Shows I should fix some of the pairs...)

Check that the point size is bigger than the minimum specified for kerning. If it is, then attach the font for testing.
