Capability to add new symbols to an existing font file

Post by kun »

Hi,

I want to add a few new symbols to an existing font file and later on use the new symbols and the old ones from the same font file. Each new symbol must have its own Unicode just like any other existing symbol in the file - if I open the font file from the Character Map in Windows, I should be able to see the Unicode of the new symbols. Can FontCreator do this? If so, what are the primary steps to achieve this using FontCreator?

Thank you,

-Kun

There are numerous ways to add characters to a font.

If you know the Unicode codepoints the use the Insert Characters feature, available from the main menu -> Insert -> Characters. Then add outlines to them.

It is not clear if this font is a regular font or a legacy Symbol font. If it is a Symbol font, then be aware such fonts only support up to 224 characters.
