OpenType features for Vertical Text?

Post by fumiko »

I made some changes on my OpenType font for easier typing (on the Standard Ligatures feature, more specifically). They worked pretty well.

But when I changed the text direction, line breaks were put between each character and the feature wasn't applied.

What do I have to do to make it work? Thanks in advance.

I don't know to be honest. It is probably something that your application is doing or not something supported by OpenType features.

Do any other OpenType fonts work in that application?

There is some features for vertical typing but I feel so confused to know how they work. So I'm asking you guys what features can I use for good ligature typing. The thing is whenever there is a line break put between the characters, the Standard Ligatures feature is not applied. For example: it works when I type h[, but not when a line break shows up between those two characters like this:
h

If I'm correct OpenType Layout Features are applied to an individual line of text. Maybe you can use a different layout feature in your word processor to overcome this limitation.
