The Width of SPACE

Post by Mike Thompson »

I set the bearings of my space (Unicode $0020) at x=0 and 600
as the width of the widest character in the font is 600.
To my surprise, when I display text in a wordprocessor (Mellel)
on the Mac OSX, the actual width of the space is very narrow
maybe more like 200.
Any ideas on how this could be?

Mike,

I suspect this is a Mellel feature/ bug. You could ask for a solution here:

Erwin,
A "feature or a bug", I like that!
Yes, I think it is my misuse of a Mellel feature. They have page-, paragraph- and character-styles and on setting them to default
the problem disapeared.
