Learning about EPS glyphs in relation to FontCreator

I was looking at the following thread.

I was unaware of EPS and so decided to look it up.

I found the following.

For the benefit of those of us not familiar with EPS could someone possibly say some more about this format and perhaps attach a sample EPS file for readers to study please?

I am wondering about whether EPS relates in some way to pdf files that contain vector graphic images?

Most vector image editing software make use of cubic bézier curves and straight line segments to define a path or an object.
