Step by Step to Create Ligatures

Post by andrugrasu »

Hello everyone.
I am somewhat new to using Font Creator software, but I learn ...!
I want to create a font and initially I care, how to create ligatures?
I searched the forum but there are so many topics that had me confused.

This tutorial explains how to create the glyphs required for ligatures for ft and st by combining two glyphs.

After that, you need an OpenType Glyph Substitution to the font using the OpenType Designer to add a feature for Standard, Discretionary, or other ligature feature so that when a user enables that feature and types ft or st they get the appropriate ligature.

For which language do you wish to create ligatures, and should the feature be enabled by default or at the user's discretion? Do the applications that you use support OpenType ligature features?

Also, which version of FontCreator are you using? Is it the Trial, Home, or Professional version? Is it the latest version or an earlier version? The answer depends very much on which product you are using.
