Keeping OpenType Instructions

Post by Dick Pape »

An acquaintance asked:

"I've been doing some OT conversions for a friend who's done some beautiful work using only FontCreator and I sent him a couple versions, including a TTF with OT info. Would he be able to make minor adjustments in FontCreator without throwing off the embeded OT instructions? If so what are the limits? Any insight would be helpful. thnx again. "

I don't know the answer, can anyone help? I will pass it on.

I'm not sure because I never used Volt, but I'll give it a try:
  • Always make sure no tables are removed on opening a font (see Tools --> Options --> Font).
    Never add or remove glyphs.
    Don't sort the glyphs.
Don't add a kerning table when kerning is done through OpenType features.
Let me know if this list is complete and correct.
