I think there may well be another bug with the validation command. When the Edit Glyph window is open and I validate the glyph at the end of the design cycle, the program makes a validation of all the glyphs rather than just the selected glyph. This slows the process of consolidation considerably if the font set contains several hundreds or more glyphs.
I think the correct way of operation should provide for two option: 1-validate the glyph in question only, or 2- validate the whole set.

This is obviously not a bug.
If you want to check a single glyph for errors, then use the Validation toolbar.
