Contour/Point correction in variable fonts
Contour/Point correction in variable fonts
It would be great if FC could automatically correct all instances in one go (something like a "synchronize" checkbox). While I'm correcting in one instance, say the regular version, e.g. a curve direction or, when deleting a node not needed. Of course, this is useful only if all instances are already "correctly" mapped (have the same number of points, etc.).

Yes, that is indeed very helpful. It is already on the to-do list, so we hope to have it available soon.

Re: Contour/Point correction in variable fonts
I have implemented part of your request. Can you let me know if it is intuitive. Then I can further improve it.
Here is the update:
[removed as there is a more recent update available]
Make sure the Edit Across Layers toolbar button is down/checked. Then you can select contours in one layer and change its direction which will be applied to all layers.

Why wait while you can enjoy the improvements right now? Otherwise you keep thinking about the transparent fill while watching the game

Actually the update has some bugs, so please try this one:

You can activate it with this toolbar button:

Mmhh, I must be doing something wrong because it seems not to work as expected:
Now the Light and Black has problems:
BTW when clicking on the Light or Black masters to correct the contours manually the view "jumps" and I must center by hand so I can see all three masters. (an auto-center option would really help)

Re: Contour/Point correction in variable fonts
Right now the fix glyph validation issues works only for the selected master. You can already fix issues through the validation wizard.
What should work is the Change Contour Direction toolbar button.

Re: Contour/Point correction in variable fonts
Aah, o.k. I've tried the wizard and it worked. BTW it would be helpful if you could add context help popups there.

I will add hints to the toolbar buttons.
