Step by Step Instructions to Creat Signature Font

Post by Wallen »

Can someone either point me to, or reply with, step by step instructions on how to take a scanned signature (bmp file) and turn it into a font that is mapped to a letter or combination of letters? I've read numerous postings that discuss pieces of this process, but having hard time putting it all together. So would like start to finish instructions with detailed steps. Please do not assume any knowledge, i.e. don't say create glyph, need steps. Thx.

Two options:

Option 1
  • - Install and start Scanahand
    - Print a template
    - Only fill in the signature field
    - Scan it in
    - Generate the font
Option 2
  • - Start FontCreator
    - From the main menu, select File -> New... to create a new Unicode font, don't include outlines
    - In the glyph overview, select the glyph (character) you want to become your signature
    - From the main menu, select Tools -> Import Image...
    - Load the file that contains your scanned signature, and press the Ok button
    - Make adjustments to the imported outlines
    - Press the F5 key to preview your font, if necessary make further adjustments.
    - Save and install the font
Do let us know your results.
