Monospaced ttf: space-glyph with rectangle
Monospaced ttf: space-glyph with rectangle
Hi there!
I am a newbie with FC.
I have make a monospaced ttf.
The "recommended glyphs" are in the file.
The work with "Font Test..." is OK.
BUT:
The "space"-glyph has the "rectangle" from the ".notdef"-glyph.
I work with Win2000 Prof and Office 2000.
What can I do ?
Edgar

Make sure you haven't accidentally removed the first four glyphs (the fourth should be the space glyph),or removed the mapping(s) from the space character. You should see the space glyph as shown below:
If it's not there, then add it:
Select "Characters" from the "Insert" menu. Select the space character (the first glyph in the third row). Click the "Add" button and press the "OK" button.

"File -> Preview" or "Font Test..."?
Maybe you need to reboot your PC and then clear Office font cache. This link will show you how to clear the cache:
O.S. and Application Specific Font Cache Files

Hi,
thanks for your proposal.
I have Word2000 with "File -> Preview" and
FC with "Font test..." tested - it is OK.
The fntcache.dat I have deleted, a fbc*.tmp-file I have not found on my system. The font I have also deleted.
After reboot - the font installed: the problem with the rectangle by the space glyph remains.

I wonder if you have a mapping for the hard space or non-breaking space — 00A0? That can be added to the same glyph.
Another thought is that "View non-printing characters" is on and Word is unable to show glyph 00B7 (middle-dot), which is used for space characters. How does it look if you apply a standard font like Arial to the same text?

A found some more problems when I tried installing your font. FontCreator said it installed OK, but OpenOffice didn't display it for selection.
1. The .notdef glyph has duplicate contours. Resize the inner rectangle and resize both to allow some space either side.
2. The font is incorrectly named. It has different names on Macintosh and Microsoft platforms. Run the Autonaming wizard from the Tools menu to fix this.
