We'll make sure FontCreator is updated as soon as possible to support the new Unicode character database.

The UCD files for the upcoming version 6.0 can be found at http://unicode.org/Public/6.0.0/ucd/ .

There are a few details that are not yet official, because they need to be approved by the JTC1/WG2. They will be meeting the first week of October in Pusan, South Korea, and the official release of Unicode 6.0 is timed so that WG2 can approve everything in it.

Having just been reading a post about the new characters in Unicode 6.0 in the Unicode Mailing List, and wondering about when Unicode 6.0 is being launched, I have found no mention of the launch date on the http://www.unicode.org web page or on a few pages where I have looked.

It was only when I remembered your post about Unicode 6.0 and looked here that I found the date of 11th October, four days from now.

They are changing things around on the Unicode webspace so may have deleted some previously stated information.

Does anyone know if the http://www.unicode.org webspace has, at present, any announcement about the launch of Unicode 6.0 please?

I don't know that there has been any official announcement to that effect, but at the last UTC, Rick McGowan said that 6.0 would come out of beta and be officially released the week after the Pusan WG2 (happening right now). October 11 is the Monday of the week he said it would be released, so I think it's right.
