Lucida Calligraphy

Lucida Calligraphy is one of my favourite fonts.

I am using a Windows xp system.

I am unsure as to whether the font came with Windows xp or with Word 97, which is the only version of Microsoft Word on this system.

The Modified date of the font installed here is 13 April 1996. The version is Version 1.50.

The main reason for starting this thread though is that there is only one file for Lucida Calligraphy on this system and it is LCALLIG.TTF and it has the font name Lucida Calligraphy and the font subfamily name Italic.

So, does anyone know please, is there only supposed to be one file for Lucida Calligraphy, or is a Regular file missing on the computer that I am using?

Having an italic and not a regular seems to cause minor problems with some packages, but, thus far, nothing that has not worked out satisfactorily.

Bookmark the MS Typography Fonts and products database.

Probably MS Office 97 or MS Publisher.

According to the font vendor's page — it is Regular, not Italic. Are you sure that it has an italic attribute when opened in FontCreator?

There is a Type Solutions version -- Lucida Calligraphy Italic.

As far as I had thought, yes, but please see below about the metrics.

Here are the contents of eight fields that I had looked at before.

Include copyright notice:
© 1991 Bigelow & Holmes. All Rights Reserved. © 1990-1991 Type Solutions, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Include font family name:
Lucida Calligraphy

Include font subfamily name:
Italic

Include unique font identifier:
Lucida Calligraphy Italic

Include full font name:
Lucida Calligraphy Italic

Include version string:
Version 1.50

Include postscript name:
LucidaCalligraphy-Italic

Include trademark:
Lucida® is a registered trademark of Bigelow & Holmes Inc.

However, I have now looked at the Format Settings... Metrics panel and Font design has only Regular checked and Mac style has nothing checked.

AFAIK that's the important setting. If its a Regular type style, in spite of the name, when you apply the italic attribute in a Windows application, it will be made oblique by 15° clockwise. |/
