I really appreciate you guys at High Logic, so much so that I gave you a plug on Quora.

Thanks, but since signing up to Quora is required to read the content, I am not sure how many will see it.

Thank you for mentioning our software in your post at Quora. I really enjoyed reading the whole story, including the first part where you explain how you first got to know typesetting.

The link in your post didn't work for me, but I found your post here:

For your information, we are a Dutch (not Danish) company.

I also noticed that the name 'High-Logic' lost its hyphen in that article (as in Charles' OP here). It was still interesting to read, though!

I was particularly interested in this bit:
Charles Tips wrote:These sorts were not backward, the reason being that when the row had been filled with words and the words spaced out with thin leaves of brass, a handle was pulled and hot lead ran into the trough of sorts to make a slug, which was backwards. After a minute, when the slug had cooled enough to be handled, it would be popped out and set in the layout tray that would eventually be mounted in the printing press.

Or maybe that's wrong. Maybe the sorts were backward, the slug forward and then there was another step done over at the printing plant to impress a rubber blanket that was mounted on the press drum.
I have a Linotype slug with my name on it, so I can confirm that the description in the first paragraph isn't wrong (as suggested in the second paragraph). The letters on the slug are indeed backwards.
