[CLOSED] "Preserve Bearings" does not work on Formula composites

Post by outofstepfontco »

Hi everyone
When using Glyph Transformer > Effects > Bold or Thin > Preserve Bearings, bearings are not preserved for composites created via formula.

For single glyphs, such as d = D, you can chain bearings together using Glyph Member Properties > Use this glyph's metrics.

However, for composites, such as ae = AE, there you have to enter the new bearings manually for every weight you create. This is quite tedious considering there isn't a bearing table we can just import and export or even review as a table.

Hopefully this has been sorted, or can be sorted easily.

Thanks in advance, I am using FC 12.0 Pro

FontCreator 14 no longer exposes the "Use this glyph's metrics" option, as all bearing related settings are available on the Glyph Properties panel. You can provide expressions to accomplish the same behaviour.

You can use an expression to set LSB to twice the left side bearing of digit two:
=lsb(two)*2

and set AW equal to digit five:
=aw(five)

or simply use this to set the bearing equal to letter A:
=A
