Awesome Font Character Merge in FontCreator

Post by Pyanepsion »

v. 14.0.0.2901

Dear forum members,

I am currently working on a project involving merging several Awesome Regular, Solid and Brand fonts to create a single custom font. I am looking for advice on how best to proceed with FontCreator.

My questions are as follows:
  1. What are the steps to import and merge the characters from the different Awesome fonts into FontCreator?
  2. Which Awesome font format should I choose as a template to create the WOFF2, WOFF, TTF and OTC versions?
Thank you for your expertise and I look forward to your answers and advice.

Sincerely,
Pyanepsion

Is this impossible? If so, why?

Copy and paste special into empty new glyphs should work, but there might be an issue with conflicting code-points. If the awesome font is a Symbol font, it will be limited to the number of characters it can support. Convert it to a Unicode font. Map the extra glyphs to the Private Use Area, and think about how users will access the glyphs. Would Stylistic Sets be useful, for example?
