Randomizing stylistic alternates

Post by abcohen2011 »

Hello,
I am brand new to font creating and am trying to replicate a handwritten font. I would like to have several versions of each character, so that if I type two, 'a's in a row, they won't look exactly the same. I have my versions created, but I am a little lost on how to label them properly (i.e. a.ss01 or a.alt01 etc. or something completely different), and how I would randomize which glyph is used. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

I wrote an article about it a year ago (less than a week and a half...), it's in Hebrew, I hope you'll get along.
Actually I have become very specialized in this field, I have created dozens of smart fonts, I will be happy to help you in any field.

Elrin, if you want me to upload this article translated, just tell me where.
