initial, medial and terminal forms

Dear High-Logic In the manual the description of initial, medial and terminal substitutions are not to be used with the Latin alphabet. Does this mean it can't be used with the Latin alphabet? If so, may I ask for a modification? Historical forms of the Latin alphabet frequently use different charac...

Caliver Book

This is my latest font. It is a variant of a font I created last year called Corieltauvi. Corieltauvi is a huge font, which I was developing so as to learn Open type protocols. Alas, I am stymied, and have found it difficult to wrap my head around the programming needed to be successful using Open t...

Re: my latest colorfont

What a lovely colourful font. I can see it finding a lot of applications for young children. :D :D

Re: Corieltauvi Normal

I have just checked out the OpenType Designer and looked at the modifications you made. This seems very clear as well as your video. Again I will take time to study it so that I may fully understand.

Thank you for your time and patience.

Re: Corieltauvi Normal

I have just watched your video, Bhikku, and that seems incredibly clear. I will have to watch it again a few times to get the gist properly sorted, but thank you, that is a valuable resource.

Re: Corieltauvi Normal

Thank you once again Bhikku This is all touching on the limits of my current knowledge. I think I was aware of the Petite Capitals - I remember reading the notes and deciding that these would be more useful than Small Caps, I think; it's been such an involved and intense process that I forget some o...

Re: Undoing Transformations

I make a practice to save the font project before doing any transformations at all. If the transformation doesn't work, I simply exit and reopen the saved file, and the transformation is no longer there. Using Bikkhu's method as well would provide a belt and braces safety net.

Re: Corieltauvi Normal

Corieltauvi 1.otf This is the latest incarnation of the Corieltauvi font. I have added small caps, superscripts, subscripts, some extra private use area symbols (which I moved to codepoints .61398) and discretionary ligatures. I investigated the Open Type Designer, but I think it's a bit beyond me ...

Re: Corieltauvi Normal

Once again, thank you very much Bhikkhu; I never would have known about that manoeuvre even though I have read a substantial portion of the manual. This software is full of surprises.

Re: Corieltauvi Normal

Thank you both.
The diacriticals are all in the font because I use them for regular sized upper and lower case letters with accents. It's just that they didn't appear on the small caps when I tried the small caps script.

Re: Corieltauvi Normal

I'm still working on the font, trying things out (such as some of the scripts) to 'see what happens' and modifying as I go along. Yesterday I tried the small caps script from the tutorial. The result was pretty impressive, but I noted that the diacriticals except diaresis and top dot did not appear ...

Re: Corieltauvi Normal

Once again, many thanks for your helpful advice. I am learning far more than I expected from creating this font. May I ask another question? It's about 'Complete Composites'. I have included in the font, as an example, a caron and a combining caron, but still some of the composites remain incomplete...

Re: Corieltauvi Normal

I adjusted the funits per em from 1000 to 4096 as suggested on one of my test bed fonts (copies of the main font that I can play with before going on to the real thing). Apart from reducing the size of the glyphs in the edit window, I can't quite see what the transformation achieves. Is it a useful ...

WOW! That's a lot of the PUA reserved for other things. I didn't realise.
Thank you.

Re: Corieltauvi Normal

Dear Bhikku Thank you so much for this; it is incredibly helpful. You have identified some of the problems I encountered when developing the font, especially the combining dotless i for which I could not find the proper mappings. With the PUA symbols, given the problem you identified, where would yo...
