Zapf Dingbats on newer Mac computers

Dear list members, I have a large number of Word documents that use characters from Zapf Dingbats. Those characters display correctly on Mac OS X and on Windows but the characters don't display correctly in Word documents on Mac OS High Sierra . A user sent me the zapf Dingbats font from his Mac wit...

Ligatures in Microsoft Word

1) I have created two different fonts that have OpenType ligatures. Both fonts display ligatures correctly in LibreOffice and PDF's created from LibreOffice. But only one font displays the ligatures in Word while the other font doesn't. I've tested both fonts in the same Word file at the same time s...

Re: Version string doesn't display in installed font

Erwin said: There is room for another option in the Font page (Options Dialog). The online documentation for the Tools/Options/Font menu: http://www.high-logic.com/fontcreator/manual/index.html?options_font.html shows a whole lot of options one of which is "optimize name table" when saving font file...

Re: Version string doesn't display in installed font

Have other people encountered this problem? I'm unclear what in the font naming I've used violates the "naming table strictness". I've tested with two fonts. One named ShvetambariRudram2017 which even if I don't change anything as soon as I click OK to Font/Properties/Identification causes the Versi...

Re: Version string doesn't display in installed font

I think I'll have to send the font file to you but I don't see how to do an attachment in a private message. Is there an email address to send it to?

Thanks,
Harry

Re: Version string doesn't display in installed font

Hi Erwin, I wish it were that simple. The problem only happens with this font and uninstalling, installing and rebooting doesn't help. All other fonts I can edit the Font Identifier information and it still appears correctly in Windows Font Viewer. With this font as long as I don't go into the Font/...

Re: Version string doesn't display in installed font

OK I see a little clearer whats going on. The original font I'm editing was created in Fontographer years ago and for some reason it doesn't display a version string in windows font viewer. When I edit this font in FontCreator it still doesn't display a version string in windows font viewer. But if ...

Re: Version string doesn't display in installed font

It is only this font that the version doesn't display in windows font viewer. All other fonts on my computer display the version string in windows font viewer.

Re: Version string doesn't display in installed font

I just downloaded the free version of Maintype and when I open the installed font in Maintype and under font properties the version number is there and correct. But for some reason there is no version string displayed in windows font viewer.

Re: Version string doesn't display in installed font

Hi Bhikkhu, I did uninstall the old font before installing the new font and viewed the installed font directly with font viewer but still the version string did not display. I then copied the installed font to a directory and opened it in FontCreator and double checked that there was a version strin...

Version string doesn't display in installed font

In a font I've edited in Fontreator In the Font Properties menu I've put in a font revision of 1.000 and clicked the "Generate the following naming fields automatically" so it creates a Version string of "Version 1.00;September 15, 2017;FontCreator 11.0.0.2408 64-bit" I install the font but when I e...

Re: Feature request - ability to add DSIG to a font

Thank you Erwin, It might be that the font was created in Fontographer years ago and then edited by me to add ligature lookup tables in fontforge a few months ago (this was before I purchased FontCreator) and I then had to add a DSIG in fontforge to make the ligatures work. I will try some experimen...

Re: Feature request - ability to add DSIG to a font

With Word 2013 and Windows 7 I had to add a dummy DSIG to get my ligatures lookup table to work otherwise it didn't apply open type features. I've also seen in the Fontcreator forums other people say also that Word wont apply open type features without a DSIG (or dummy DSIG) in the font. Are you say...

Feature request - ability to add DSIG to a font

Microsoft Office and I think LibreOffice require a DSIG table (can be a dummy DSIG table) for Open Type Features to work.

Is it possible to add a feature to FontCreator to add either a dummy or a valid DSIG to a font.

Thanks,
Harry

Re: How to change line spacing without changing WinAscent

Thank you Bhikkhu and Erwin, I've gotten it to work (old line spacing and display accents) in Word and PDF on Windows and Mac by: setting Typo line gap and line gap to 0. setting Win Ascent high enough to include accents setting Typo Ascender and Ascender to original value before adding accents. che...
