Re: PANOSE Your Fonts
Here's a question: If your document file ( let's say we're talking MS Word .DOC/DOCX files ) uses a font that is not on the authoring system, how does Word know the PANOSE signature of the missing font? This would be needed to find a suitable replacement font ... Maybe the .DOC file format store the...

[FIXED] AutoMetrics Preview of figures (digits)
I think this is a (relatively minor) bug in FCPro 12.0.0.2547: Tools => AutoMetrics... => [X] Optical Metrics => [Next] => Preview Text = 0123456789 When changing between: [Tabular figures] => [Update] and then [Proportional figures] => [Update] ... I was hoping to be able to preview the difference ...

Flatten Complete Composites
I have not plumbed the depths of Complete Composites, so this might be achievable with the right options or setting of glyph names ... but ... When I execute Complete Composites on, for example, $1EA4 (Acircumflexacute) I get a composite with two glyphs: Acircumflex plus an acute. The Acircumflex is...

Re: Version of Unicode?
I currently depend on the behavior of FC Pro 11.5 in using UnicodeData.txt and Blocks.txt to configure the version of Unicode that FC uses. I even have a script to copy in various versions of those files to the user directory. This lets me view a font under the version of Unicode it was created to d...

Creating a Copy of a Composite Glyph
I would like to copy a composite glyph into an empty glyph and have an exact copy of the original (i.e. a composite glyph with the same components with their move/scale parameters). I am doing this to create a starting point for a new glyph. Using FC Pro 11.5, when I ... A) copy/paste in the overvie...

[FIXED] Glyph Properties Menu Item Missing
(hate to bring this up in the middle of a major version rollout but ...) Right-clicking in a Glyph Edit window brings up a popup menu that typically has " Glyph Properties " as its last menu item. However, if the glyph has no contours, that last menu item is absent . Workarounds: To get t...

Re: Version of Unicode?
This has worked like a charm! I now have a handy script that lets me reconfigure FC to any Unicode version from 1.1 through 12.0 (12.1 tomorrow bright and early!) This is very helpful to me, in determining the block coverage of older fonts I sometimes work with, based on the version of Unicode for w...

Re: Version of Unicode?
My main concern is that there are 4 files in FC's /Unicode subdirectory: ArabicShaping.txt, Blocks.txt, Scripts.txt, UnicodeData.txt (there is also ReadMe.txt, but let's leave that aside). You mentioned replacing Blocks.txt and UnicodeData.txt, but not ArabicShaping.txt and Scripts.txt. Should I rep...

Re: Version of Unicode?
Could you please confirm that it is only UnicodeData.txt and Blocks.txt that I need to substitute to change the Unicode version number? ... or do ArabicShaping.txt and Scripts.txt also need to be swapped?? I've run initial tests with great success ... but need to know if these file are read by FC. ...

Version of Unicode?
Is there a straightforward way to figure out which Version of Unicode FC is currently using? I'm thinking specifically about the code point allocations ... It would be *very* nice to be able to see whether a particular font fills out a block for a given version of Unicode ... i.e. being to switch FC...

Re: Issues in glyphnames.dat
Hi Erwin - I've used FC since version 3.1.1 (2/21/2003) for small (and successful!) font projects. My font work has dramatically expanded recently to developing a batch pipeline for font post-processing - a mishmash of Perl, Python, Excel, C, etc. FC and MainType are invaluable in this effort and I ...
