Re: real time rendering engine is still problematic

The shaping engine has improved significantly over the years, and we are constantly improving it based on both our own findings and user feedback. You are making a font with the most complex OpenType layout features we have ever seen, so we understand the importance for you to use a perfect shaping...

real time rendering engine is still problematic

Hello, Something must have broke along the way between the last few updates... I'm seeing more and more visual issues with FC13's real time rendering window when compared to a web browser's (correct) output. Forgive my ignorance, but is there any chance FC will ever have real time rendering that mat...

I think the point is that the specification recommends not supporting animations in font applications, so FontCreator won't ever support it.
Understood.

Thank you

Re: Animated character?

OpenType Specs - SVG SVG documents may include <desc>, <metadata> or <title> elements, but these are ignored by implementations. Support for the following capabilities is not required in conforming implementations, though some applications may support them. Font developers should evaluate support f...

Animated character?

So, this will certainly come as a stupid question, but here goes: Has OpenType evolved to allow character animation as a function of the font itself? Does such a feature exist? Otherwise, is there any way to simulate this effect with current OT features? Say, something as simple as a blinking charac...

Re: Movable baseline in preview window

The problem with drawing above ' Win Ascent ' or below ' Win Descent ' is that these are the limits where Windows stops drawing the glyph. These are not the same as ' Typo Ascender ' and ' Typo Descender ' which are limits within font creator and can be exceeded quite happily without problems. If y...

Re: Movable baseline in preview window

Hello Bhikkhu, Is there a reason why your need to exceed the WinAscent? In the program I'm applying the font for, raising the WinAscent (and Ascender) too high will effectively raise the input caret box from which the user enters their data. So, I'm playing a balancing act where lowering these value...

Movable baseline in preview window

Hello, So, I've recently discovered that one can force a line break in the preview window, to view characters on a second line, or to help view characters that may be set beyond the ascender values. While this is useful, it gets tiresome to have to enter "/newline" everytime. As I am working on a fo...

We have just released an update which includes these requested enhancements:
1. Duplicate class
2. Open in Code Editor

For now if your lookup name does not fit into the list box, do make it shorter.
Thank you Erwin,

This is excellent! :)

Duplicate class from dialog and direct right click to open lookup

Hello, A couple of suggestions, if I may: 1- Now that you've given us the ability to duplicate a lookup from the OTD tree (thank you!), it would be nice (and save us time) to be able to duplicate a class directly from the Class Manager dialog. 2- Working from the OTD tree: I often wish I could open ...

To reposition lookups, you will need to reorder the actual lookup defintitions.
Yes, I got that. I guess I'm just looking for a more efficient way of doing it. The OTD tree is quick and easy...but it's only efficient in moving one definition at a time.

Reposition list of lookups within feature in code editor?

Hello, Am I correct in assuming one cannot reposition a list of lookups within a feature from the code editor itself? Seems it would go so much faster if I could...especially when there are more than a handful of lookups to reposition. I tried copying and pasting in the editor but the order I wanted...

Re: Drag drop enhancement and OTD tree status

Drag and drop seems to work like this: Drag down and drop onto another lookup, places it after that lookup Drag up and drop onto another lookup, places it before that lookup Like I said, this approach works about 80% of the time. It's easy to hover just a little above or below target, and somehow, ...

Drag drop enhancement and OTD tree status

Hello, The drag and drop feature is a wonderful addition and I find myself using it very often, so thank you very much! I do feel, however, that there's room for improvement. It would seem the destination indicator could be more functional if it were to highlight its target in between lookups and no...
