Maybe you have a specific preview text that is causing the issue. Can you open the OpenType Designer with another font, and then change the preview text. Then try to open this font?

I have upgraded to the latest version and I am still getting the same problem with opening the opentype designer using the same font.
I opened the exported TTF and then the OpenType Designer and it did not work.
