Symbol font style
For Symbol font, MainType indicates a "Normal" style and FontCreator a "Regular" style. Why this difference?

Re: 8-bit and 16-bit and 32-bit export
Thanks Erwin. My main concern was indeed that the symbol.ttf font was not recognized by the Firefox browser. The FontCreator conversion tool now allows it to be displayed as shown in this draught. Symbol Regular.png symbol.ttf is a font with a Symbol encoding id. Maybe that is the issue, but it migh...

8-bit and 16-bit and 32-bit export
Hello everyone. Unicode offers 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit font formats. Older formats are not always recognized. For example, the symbol.ttf font provided free by Microsoft with Windows is a font which displays correctly in FontCreator, but does not display correctly with the Firefox software because ...

Re: Italic and oblique and slanted fonts
Properties Master displays what has been entered into the font by the author. Here, the master is (mischievously) called Casimir for a Google Roboto Regular font registered as… Roboto Bold. casimir.png How can we be sure that the Italic, Slanted, Oblique information the author has entered is correct...

Exotic files in windows/fonts/
Hello everyone. What is the purpose of the following file types in the Windows fonts sub-folder? Can they be deleted without damage? .xml a single, fms_metadata.xml .dat, a single StaticCache.dat .compositeFont for example GlobalMonospace.compositeFont .fon example 85f874.fon .fot example Courier Pr...

Italic and oblique and slanted fonts
Hello everyone, An italic font is a specially created font and apart from the rightward slant, some glyphs have a different design to their Roman equivalents, for example a and g. An oblique font is a Roman font slanted to the right. A slanted font could be slanted to the left (but Amiri slanted is ...

Re: Caret and Linegap
Thank you, Bhikkhu Pesala, 1. The word Caret is now much clearer. It is the word that is translated as ‘Curseur’ in French. If I understand correctly, the cursor will be distinguished according to whether the font is written horizontally (e.g. a Latin font) and this is what the Metrics for Horizonta...

Caret and Linegap
Hello everyone. English is not always correctly translated by translation software, especially when it comes to technical terms. What exactly are the words caret and linegap in the Font properties/Masters menu? Is it possible to have a scheme? 1. In the Metrics for Horizontal Layout Line Gap. The he...

Unicode command character
Hello everyone,
Unicode proposes command characters (0001 to 001F then 007F to 009F) and other special characters. How to check their presence and display them in Font Creator?
Thank you for your explanations.

Re: Spaces
My question is about the real difference between 2000 and 2002 which justified the creation of two characters in Unicode. And similarly between 2001 and 2003.

Re: Spaces
Thank. Bhikkhu Pesala.
I have seen it, but I don’t understand concretely what it changes on these characters.
For 2000 and 2002, the differences are
1. The name ‘DEMI-CADRATIN’ and ‘ESPACE DEMI-CADRATIN’.
2. The decomposition type ‘2002’ or ‘<compat> 0020’.
Same for 2001 and 2003.

Hello everyone, The Unicode table tells us that the $2000 glyph (enquad) is called Half-Cadratin and the $2002 glyph (enspace) is called Half-Cadratin Space. I guess there must be some differences between these two glyphs, especially since they are very close to each other in the table, but apart fr...

Re: Find the numbers of the missing glyphs
Wikipedia may not be up to date. I am only interested in table 0.
Table 0: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_des ... 0000-0FFF)
Font Creator can display the list of visible characters and knows their numbers. It is this list of these numbers that I would like to export.

Re: Find the numbers of the missing glyphs
I'm afraid that doesn't really answer the question. One cannot of course click on each missing character one by one, as there may be thousands in a font. I really need to be able to export a list of characters present or absent in a font. Thank you Bhikkhu Pesala, however, for your answer which allo...

Re: Find the numbers of the missing glyphs
I need to know the Unicode number of each character that is displayed and each Unicode character that is not displayed. Example: Playbill uses 240 Unicode characters out of 4095 possible, Arial 3331, etc. among many other fonts. I would like to automatically get a list of the numbers of all the char...
