Thanks. But doesn’t Adobe use Typo values? So it wouldn’t be looking at Win Ascent/Descent and Ascender/Descender then?
I didn’t change the Typo values.

Re: How to match font metrics between PC and Mac
Do you foresee any potential complications from the way I did this?

Re: How to match font metrics between PC and Mac
Ok, I found a solution. It didn't use the calculate button, and I didn't need to upgrade to 15, although I was happy to support the development of this wonderful program. I simply set the values of Ascender and Descender to match Win Ascent and Win Descent, and set the Line Gap to 0. It causes the f...

Re: How to match font metrics between PC and Mac
Thanks, I upgraded to 15, but I'm still not sure what to do. Untitled.png I need to keep the Windows values unchanged, but only change the Mac values so they match. I have read through the tutorial, but I don't know what to do with the "Calculate" button. I'm really quite desperate. Thank ...

Re: How to match font metrics between PC and Mac
Sorry for bumping this thread, but I’m really desperate for a solution. Could anyone give advice about how to modify the font metrics so that the Mac installation will match existing Windows files?
Thank you!
Thank you!

Re: How to match font metrics between PC and Mac
Thank you Erwin, I read through it and it's very helpful. What I'm still not totally clear on is how to fix it. To explain: I have thousands of files that have been rendered on PC. Now that I'm using a Mac as a second device, I want my Mac renderings to match the PC renderings. Although I haven't te...

How to match font metrics between PC and Mac
After using PC my whole life, I’ve started using a Mac laptop as a second device. I’m finding the software I use causes differences in the renderings of fonts between PC and Mac, which you can see demonstrated here: https://forums.steinberg.net/t/inconsistent-export-between-mac-and-pc/153224/11 This...

“Negative” left bound?
Is it possible for a glyph to actually “revert” the cursor to a previous position… that is, to the left?
I know zero-width is possible, but what about “negative width”?

Overlapping artifacts?
Here's an example of an issue I'm having with a font I designed: https://i.imgur.com/aH0TmaE.gif You can see the slight bumps where the glyphs overlap: https://i.imgur.com/vtMfyN1.gif I'm not sure why it's doing this. In fact, I'm having a hard time replicating it. It doesn't do this in Word, for ex...

What is "ignore context"?
I have a particular lookup which was not working correctly, although the other lookups in the font were working correctly. When I viewed this lookup in the Code Editor, I got the message at the end: "ignore context," twice. The code is below. When I removed that portion from the code and r...

Is there a max for lookup rules?
I'm still running FC13. I've revised a large font I created that uses a lot of contextual alternates: specifically, chained context substitutions. I've checked everything and it seems correct within FC. No errors in validation. But in every program I try to use it, one of the chained context substit...

Re: "Optimize contours" causes distortion
I had drawn these as constrained circles originally, so I'm not sure how it happened. Maybe because I rotated it?
Is it ok to leave it alone? What are those little red circles?

"Optimize contours" causes distortion
I have several hundred of these types of glyphs:
When I optimize contours, I get this:
Do I need to optimize? If so, is there a way to do so that doesn't cause distortion? Thanks.
