Re: postscript fonts no longer accessible in MT

For those who still might read this thread, the problem is the 3GB switch in 32bit systems. This also has been confirmed by nVidia tech support in their forum: "The 3GB switch is unfortunately not leaving enough kernel space for the display driver (Windows XP 32-bit). When the 3GB switch is tri...

Re: Disable active font preview?

I had forgotten that you can goto Tools, Options, Fonts, Browse Fonts, and check the box: And so? Dave, I am still not sure if you understand what I am asking. That checkbox has nothing to do with my request. The Windows/Fonts directory is still being scanned as the very first thing when the progra...

Re: Disable active font preview?

Maybe I did not explain it well. If you click on the other tabs as you suggest (eg Browse or Groups), the Active tab is still scanning, as you can see by the rotating icon on the tab and the numbers going up. So just by clicking on another tab solves nothing. It's still scanning. What I was requesti...

Disable active font preview?

Even though I have a fairly good system for what I do, I still like to keep my system fast and clean as opposed to bloated with all sorts of junk services running in the background. Which means, that when I start a project, I prefer to determine the fonts I want to use, and then I will load the need...

Re: When is the next version coming out?

I've been using the BEST font manager (aka MainType) for 4 years now. I think it has a lot of functionality that other managers either don't have or implemented poorly, plus MT is very stable. So I think it's not a burning issue to keep coming out with new releases just because other software compan...

Re: postscript fonts no longer accessible in MT

Ok, no need for panic. I installed an older driver (the one before the current) and that solved the problem. Not sure if there was a problem maybe during the latest driver installation or is this indeed a bug in the new driver. But gotta work on a project so don't have time to find this out right no...

Re: postscript fonts no longer accessible in MT

I've JUST upgraded my old nvidia card (7900GT) to a GeForce GTX275, and installed the latest drivers 195.62 dated 11-26-2009 from nvidia's website. I've been using MT for many moons now and never had this problem. Currently running 2.1.1 build 38. This problem started right after the driver installa...

Do I need to uninstall first?

Hi, Thanks for the 2.1.1 update! I'm still running 2.0 and ready to install 2.1.1. I find that when it's time to update, most software doesn't mention whether is it necessary to uninstall the older version first, or not. This is the case with MainType, too. I can't find any reference whether it's ne...

While it's true about the 30 day money back, I don't think there's a fool on this planet who'd want their money back for BEST font manager ever produced...!

Maybe you don't have a CE version of the font. Hmmm... that might be true. But then again, I don't have Font Creator either so I can't look. Anyway, I might buy that version of Old English Text and see if that solves the issue. Thanks for all your help and input! Even though I was a little confused...

Are you saying that the Win 1250 CE codepage is not a built-in "table" (or whatever you wanna call it) within the opentype font? Based on the website, I thought it's a selectable option (like Latin Extended-A) You are confusing me. I do not need a text sample. Here's a character from the W...

I'm not understanding something correctly here. If you go to that weblink I posted, you can select 'Win 1250 CE' from the codepages dropdown. That codepage contains Slovakian characters. I have the same 'Old English Text' opentype font installed. I see all the character sets in MT in the 'Characters...

Code Pages

Is there a way to switch/view code pages in MT? I particular, I'm browsing this website here: http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/ascender/old-english-text/regular/opentype-tt/298809/charmap.html?vid=298809&cpselect=CP5 There's that dropdown menu where you can select code pages. In this case the font i...

Sorry, didn't mean to "pick" on this issue. I guess sometimes I just talk too much... (should I say 'write'...)
