Re: Preserving VOLT font tables

It's a good question. I have actually found the FC conversion of OT tables to be superb. I haven't had an issue so far. But when I don't need to make any changes to the OT features themselves and I just need to adjust a glyph I would like to not "touch" the OT tables if not necessary.

Re: Preserving VOLT font tables

That was what I was asking. Should I keep 5.6 installed? It sounds like yes.

Preserving VOLT font tables

Is there any way to preserve VOLT font tables when opening and saving a font in FontCreator 9? This was possible in 5.6.

Re: MainType 6.0 folder sync - fonts not removed from database

Yes but they are still installed and active. It would be nice if it would uninstall, delete missing fonts and more importantly when a font is updated it would uninstall and delete the old version and then install the newer version.

Re: MainType 6.0 folder sync - fonts not removed from database

Hi Erwin, Please don't be offended I love your software. I have been using MainType and FontCreator for years now. I recommended it to my company because of how good it is. Rarely is there a bug, an amazing feat considering how complex the software is. It really is my fault because I didn't research...

Re: MainType 6.0 folder sync - fonts not removed from database

This has actually been a real dilemma for me. I recommended the company I work for buy licenses for MainType because I thought this was possible with MainType. At our company we had trouble with making sure everyone had the same font versions. The solution was to put the fonts in once centralized fo...

Re: Volt and FontCreator

Mike, Yes it does, but instead of positioning multiple marks to a character I created new glyphs with both below marks together as one and then used substitutions to (i.e. kamatz tevir would get substituted with the single kamarz-tevir glyph). I did this because I could not find a way with VOLT to v...

Re: Volt and FontCreator

Mike,

Besides not allowing sub-groups what other limitations have you noticed in comparison to VOLT?

Re: Volt and FontCreator

Hi León, I do in fact use nested groups, but it wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me because currently I am only making minor edits to the fonts so I don't change the grouping at all. It would to be able to bypass the step of using VOLT for these minor edits and just keep everything in FontCreator. I'v...

Volt and FontCreator

This is extremely exciting that FontCreator has implemented fully OT features. I use currently FontCreator 5.6 Professional. I downloaded the trial of version 8 and it looks like it was implemented incredibly well! Thank you! But this leads me to my problem. I have a ton of fonts I created with Volt...

Re: Moving

I figured it out. First move the base glyphs 150 units then move the left bearing of the composite glyphs to zero and then move the right bearing of the composite glyphs to zero. Thank you for all your help!

Re: Moving

This is the way I would like it to end up looking like. Zero width and the glyphs should be moved horizontally 150 units. Is there any way to do this on multiple glyphs at once?

Re: Moving

I see now what is happening. I move the base glyphs and the the composite glyph looks like this:

Then when I save the font the composite glyph gets moved back. Why is this happening? And what can I do to get the composite glyphs to stay moved the 150 units when saving?

Re: Moving

Ok, I see now what you mean. Apparently after moving the base glyphs I then set the composite glyphs bearings to zero which apparently threw things off. All this to try and work around a bug on iOS :(.

Re: Moving

Were you able to move those in one shot? I have to move all of these 150 units.
