Re: Diacritic marks to ignore kerning?

I guess it is possible with Chained context positioning, but maybe it even works with a regular pair adjustment lookup.

Re: Ligatures not working?

There is nothing wrong with the font, so better ask the people at Finale why their software fails to display it correctly.

Re: Ligatures not working?

Do remove language ARI from the Latin script and see if that helps.

Otherwise you will have to try to remove other features or lookups to maybe discover the conflict.

Do see if you have more success if you export through FC14.

Re: Extending beyond canvas?

There are obviously limits. According to the specs all points must be within the range -16384 and +16383. However that is no guarantee all renderers can copy with this. For example Word chops of everything outside WinAscent and WinDescent. Too many points can also cause rendering issues, e.g. the ou...

Re: Diacritical marks affected by kerning in the OpenType Designer preview

I think we have fixed it in the improved shaping engine which comes with FontCreator 14. We expect to invite people for the beta period within a couple of days, but I can send you a pre-release to test it.

Re: Can't get lookahead CALT to work

OpenType features in a font will be applied if the shaping engine decides to process one or more features. Then all lookups within those features are applied, in general in the order of the lookups, as shown in the Lookups tree, from top to bottom.

The lookup is not attached to a feature yet, hence " <-not used ".

Re: Arabic punctuation Mark to ligature are embedding extra spaces

I don't think it is wise to set the advance width of .notdef to zero. Maybe add an empty dotted circle and set its advance width to zero. Even that is not really how it should be, but .notdef is also used to show other missing characters in your font. The shaping engine used in Word seems too strict...

Re: What is the difference between Default and Latn?

If their shaping engine is correctly implemented, and your characters are Latin, then both should work just fine, even if your font contains both Default-Default and Latin-Default Script-Language pairs (with the exact same features).

Re: Arabic punctuation Mark to ligature are embedding extra spaces

I have received the font project and a sample text. The Windows shaping engine will usually show a dotted circle when it detects invalid combining marks. Your font does not contain this dotted circle ($25CC) and then it shows the .notdef glyph. In your font it is empty, so you see white space. In Ar...

It could be an issue on our side, but we can only know for sure if we can reproduce the issue.

Can you send us the font along with some sample text for us to inspect?

Scaling is not part of OpenType layout features, so yes, you need to provide another glyph,
