That is right. I had a similar problem.
Than, after I did close MainType from the taskbar (right click -> exit). After reopening it, the update installed correctly.

Re: Add OpenType editor
Dear High-Logic team,
will there be OpenType CFF support in the future version(s) of FontCreator? I would really like to save .otf fonts.
Thanks for any response.

Re: Glyph caption not showing when opening .otf font
Hello Bhikkhu Pesala, thanks for your response. Yes, Adobe fonts, that are included in the Adobe Creative Suite CS3 Design Standard, does have these glyphs (I think, I already mentioned this above). But I have to edit some old fonts, that doesn't have them. So I need to use this dialog, right? http:...

Re: Glyph caption not showing when opening .otf font
But, I tryed to open more .otf fonts (not only from Adobe, I have about 17 older fonts from Bitstream and some older - once Type 1 PS - fonts, that were converted to OpenType), but neitherone does show any of the caption names . I need this function, since I need to create some characters (ccaron, c...

Font search
Would there be any way, to implement a Font searching function into MainType? So, I have, let's say 3200 fonts in 37 groups and now I need to know, in what group the font I'm looking for, is in. It would be much more faster, if there would be something like seachig (and indexing). Is this posibble i...

Glyph caption not showing when opening .otf font
Hello High-Logic forum members, I would like to ask someone, how to show the glyph's captions in .otf font in FontCreator 6.1? Here I have opened Arial.ttf font (captions are showing up - showing Postscript Name): http://www.shrani.si/f/3Z/OY/4FT01Hn4/arial.png Here I have opened Myriad.otf font (ca...

Re: Disable active font preview?
Thanks for this information.León Fridsma wrote:We'll start with MainType 4.0 (yes, we're propably skipping 3.0) as soon as Scanahand 3.0 is released. How long it's gonna take to develop MainType 4.0 is still a big unknown because we first have to do research and make a schedule on how to proceed.

Really? When will this happen?León Fridsma wrote:This problem is one of the main reasons why MainType will have a big part of it's engine redesigned and rewritten from scratch with the next version.

Re: Disable active font preview?
One of the main problems here with MainType is, that it doesn't have any cache system. So every time you open it up, it needs to create preview of fonts, font caches etc. That's why it is slow. Very slow. And you can have an dual-quadcore CPU in the case with unlimited GBs of free RAM and it won't h...

Re: MT slow to display some fonts
I think MainType doesn't have any type of caching. That is one of the main problems, when loading the previews... I wish the next version would have something, like this.

Re: CS4 Problem with PostScript 1-Fonts
Hello Ervin, I did read this somewhere on the Adobe Blogs - one of their programmers wrote this, that Adobe is phaseing out the support of Type 1 from their forthcomming products (and that is already with Adobe CS4), because they want to push the selling of their OpenType font products, etc. The pro...

Re: CS4 Problem with PostScript 1-Fonts
I did somewhere read, that Adobe is phasing out the support for Type 1 PostScript fonts, and that all began with Adobe CS4 apps. Only OTF fonts (and TTF for legacy) will be supported in the next version of Adobe applications. Some links: http://blogs.adobe.com/typblography/2005/10/phasing_out_typ.ht...

• Font Caching
If you open/load a folder with loats of font inside it, it takes some time, to be fully shown, if you have the WYSIWYG option turned on. That's OK for the first time, but if someone needs, to activate another font from that folder and he closed the application, MainType needs, to reload all these fo...
