Re: Problems with font modified by FC on Android System
I'm not sure about how to do this. If I select several glyphs, then do a right mouse click, I don't seen any "paste special", and if I go to the edit menu, I do see a paste special but it is grayed out.

Problems with font modified by FC on Android System
Recently I purchased a Nook Simple Touch for reading ebooks. I tried reading an epub I created that uses a ttf small cap font based on an otf font by Pesala (with his permission). With my previous ebook readers, BeBook One and Sony PRS-950, and on Adobe Digital Editions reader on my PC, the epub pag...

questions about vault for MT4
After reading the manual for MT4 (I won't revert completely to MT3 until I know more about MT4) I was wondering about the vault where all fonts are stored by MT4. I found that Softpedia offers a download of its program 'Winvault' that have the same .vlt xtension as MT4 vault. Is the MT4 vault the sa...

Re: No browsing anymore? I'm downgrading!
I appreciate what MainType does, and I think I understand the philosophy behind version 4, but to me it's a shame that High-Logic has not taken care to design MT4 to allow for different user preferences. Apple has this "we know better than you" philosophy for all its products. I remember u...

Re: No browsing anymore? I'm downgrading!
I didn't realise that Maintype 4 takes control of all my fonts; I'm reverting back to MT 3 and have deleted MT4 from my system. I had hoped it would have been designed like many successful photo managers, such as 'ACDSee Photo Manager' - that program inventories all my photographs and keeps track of...

Re: copyrights
I fully agree with you as to the personal use and sales. But there is another question - is it ok to distribute it to others at no cost?

Re: copyrights
There are two questions here - is producing and selling a look-alike font produced partly by Scanahand or Adobe Illustrator illegal by US Copyright Laws as interpreted by the courts, and/or is it immoral/unethical. I think the courts have decided so far that it is not illegal.

Re: Show file locations
I'd like to second Enigma's request for font files locations. I still use Typograf, which is far inferior to MainType in its ability to show all the glyphs and detailed info on each font, but Typograf default is to show installed fonts. It doesn't go far enough, however, in showing all fonts' locati...

Re: Problem with unicode private use area glyphs
The font works fine in MS Word 2003 and in Open Office; the really odd thing is that this is a new problem. I've had a similar problem with other fonts and found that the private use area glyphs did not work. Then, about two weeks ago, all seemed to work properly. Now, the problem is back. What I've...

Problem with unicode private use area glyphs
I've been working on a font with ligatures and find that all of the ligatures that have an assigned unicode value such as f_f (U+FB00) work fine in an application for reading epub ebooks (Adobe Digital Editions), but those ligatures with unicode values lying in the private use are such as c-t (I ass...

Re: copyrights
I fully agree that opening a commercial font in FontCreator, then slightly changing a few of the control points manually or by using the 'Glyph Transformer' of FontCreator, replacing all the previous naming data with new information, and renaming the font is wrong, unethical, and illegal. However, t...

Re: copyrights
Bhikkhu, I realize my font is missing several glyphs; I had started to work on a new edition with added glyphs. But I had already realized that Scanahand was not really suitable for high resolution work despite my best efforts so I've abandoned my efforts with Scanahand. Unfortunately it lacks accur...

Re: copyrights
Yes, I have a ttf font created using Scanahand in the Gallery forum. As far as Scanahand is concerned I have mixed feelings. On the one hand it is very quick and does ok with a rough font. However the resultant glyphs are much larger than they should be and need to be decreased in size. Also, the gl...

Re: font with old english ligatures
Well, here's my next iteration of the garamond font. I've tried to clean up the glyphs with FontCreator and spent some more time on kerning. I know it still need some work, so I'd appreciate any comments about improvements. I noticed that Scanahand has some minor problems with creating this font: 1....
