Re: Kerning for Greek

Only for Modern monotonic Greek the Greek Extended block isn't necessary. For all other purposes (ancient Greek, katharevousa, polytonic Greek) you can't do without Greek Extended.

[FIXED] Minor error in Welcome screen

Not really a bug, just a minor error: the "online" link in the Welcome screen refers to version 8 of the manual.

Question about Visual OpenType Designer

Is it possible to use Visual OpenType Designer to create glyph combinations with multiple diacritics stacked above and below a base character? Some examples from Greek extended to illustrate what I mean: ᾄ ᾝ.

Re: Combinations of keys

Microsoft offers a free utility called Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator. Use it to create a new keyboard from scratch or modify an existing keyboard. It is a very straightforward utility.

Re: Kerning doesn't work

Word has long history of problems with kerning. Years ago I added hundreds of kerning pairs *manually* only to find out that Word doesn't support the kerning of characters in the Greek Extended set. Worst of all: this behaviour isn't documented anywhere.

I can confirm that the problem is corrected. Thank you, for looking into it.

Re: Kerning doesn't work

I'm afraid I *did* send you a wrong file, but for some reason the problem shows up also in a font which according to Font Creator *does* have lots of kerning pairs.

Kerning doesn't work

I stumbled upon a problem using a font I edited in FC. This font keeps the original kerning tables, nothing is changed there, but in the edited font the kerning doesn't work in Word, while the original version works correctly. What can cause this behaviour? BTW, it's not a version 7 issue: I also no...

Re: capital H indicating hinted glyph

So I suppose the option 'No hinting' removes all existing hints?

Re: capital H indicating hinted glyph

This is a *major* improvement, in my view, unless the option to keep the original hinting implies that modified glyphs will NOT be autohinted.

Re: capital H indicating hinted glyph

Yes, but I wonder why the marking of glyphs is inconsistent, as *all* glyphs receive (auto)hints. This is not reflected by the presence or absence of the H marker.

capital H indicating hinted glyph

In previous versions of FontCreator the originally hinted glyphs were marked with a capital H in het upper left corner, while edited glyphs lost their hints and accordingly their marking. In the most recent version edited glyphs still don't show the H marker, though they are hinted (automatically) b...

Re: Line spacing changes in FC 7.0

Thanks, Erwin, for your replies. I'm using Word '2007. The problem has nothing to do with hinting nor with Layout and Contents version, which is set to 3. Where can I send the fonts to?
