Re: How to pack a little more punch?

Hmm... no responses. Perhaps I gave the only sensible response right in my initial query here? And so that's what I thought I'd try -- scale up the size of my Wickednesse font just a little. So I thought I'd start with trying 105% increase in size using the "Scale" feature in the Glyph Transformer -...

Re: Dminx!

I'm glad it is now solved. Maybe it was due to Windows caching, but to be sure send the font file to me next time such strange thing happens. Sure, no sweat -- although I don't know if that would help you at all. I've been saving my font projects under new names every time I do anything major, and ...

Re: Dminx!

LOL. ;) I'm sure you would have noticed -- it's pretty obvious, actually, because when you install a font from within FC, you do only naturally wait for the confirmation message at the end that it succeeded (which in this case is "Enjoy"!). Still very strange, though -- I mean, I have yet to start m...

Re: Dminx!

Check in File Export Options. Do you mean for whether my font is a "CFF (PostScript) font"? Oh, if you mean under the "Outline format" option in there, it's set as "TrueType," not "CFF (Postscript)." I didn't export the fonts, though, I only (re-)installed them directly from FC. EDIT: Oh, I just no...

FontCreator 11?
Yup!
CFF (PostScript) font?
I have no idea -- this is how dumb (uneducated) I am about what I'm doing.

How to pack a little more punch?

I could use some suggestions here -- I'm not sure how to explain it other than to just simply show you (and explain it in there), so I threw together this image here... Wickednesse Size.jpg See what the problem is? All three fonts -- my blackletter, roman and italic -- all share the same x-height, e...

Dminx!

Uh-oh, what'd I do wrong? So I'm pluggin' away here at two new fonts, a new historical roman and italic font to go along with my historical blackletter font, and don't ask me how, but I suddenly realized that somewhere along the way I deleted the semicolon from the former two fonts. Don't as...

Re: Yes italic, no regular

This is like some of the other information that most applications often discard. Things like underline position/thickness, strikeout position/thickness, etc., are often ignored. Some applications also don't use the as-designed underscore and instead use a bog-standard looking on of their own making...

Shouldn't the italic angle control be disabled when the 'Italic' checkbox is unchecked? :?
The OS uses that angle setting for angling the cursor

Is that what that's for -- or supposed to be for, anyway? My OS doesn't angle the cursor over italicized text.

Re: Yes italic, no regular

Follow-up... I started reading the stuff there on those links you gave, PJ, and y'know what? I think I might back-burner doing anything more in-depth like that with my fonts. It is very interesting, though! And that does sound like a great idea, to make my fonts more usable for historical contexts l...

Re: Yes italic, no regular

If you want to do a historical font then you might want to include a selection of the MUFI characters, that way it becomes useful to medievalists. Ugh. More research. Just what I need! For the last few days I've done no work on any of my fonts, but rather have been researching the 16th-cent...

Re: Yes italic, no regular

“-ib9” at the end of a word is “-ibus”, the dative or ablative plural of a third declension noun or adjective. “-q3” at the end of a word is “-que”, a suffixed “and”. Oh, how interesting! I love learning little typographic anomalies from that period like this -- great stuff! :) “faueāt” is “faveant...

Re: Yes italic, no regular

To be sure it isn't an issue with the fonts, do change the font family name, and then see if that family works fine. I'm bewildered as to why, but oddly enough that did the trick! Changed both font family names to "Test," then tried them out in Photoshop and everything worked fine. So then I change...

You must have confused it. Magbe a reboot helps. Otherwse clearing the font cache might help.
Did both -- same problem is still there. :(

Re: Yes italic, no regular

Italic checkbox! Indeed that was it (as I surmised just as I posted my previous reply, when noticed that unchecked checkbox) -- at least, to an extent that was it. Now, when it installs, the "Enjoy!" comes out as it should, each displaying in the font I've just installed, and I can see both fonts s...
