Re: Syllable Bows

You might be able to fix that with more kerning pairs for Bow:A, Bow:V, Bow:Y, etc.

Re: Smallcaps suggestions?

I see that there's both a "Small Capitals Private Use" script and another for just "Small Capitals" -- what's the difference? Read the Comments section(s) for each script to see how they were designed to work. If they don't suit your needs, they can be edited, or you can create your own scripts fro...

Re: Smallcaps suggestions?

Unicode Small Capitals are Phonetic Extensions and should not be used for Typographical Small Capitals. The Complete Composites and Glyph Transform features in FontCreator generate small capitals in the Private Use Area, which is where they belong. Also consider that your font may need Small/Petite...

Re: Syllable Bows

They are basically the same as combining diacritical marks.

Create them with a negative left side-bearing, and have users type them after the syllable.

I had just assumed that everything was going to be bumped one character over (as with "Enjoy" coming out as "Dminx"), but all seems to be fine when I use my fonts elsewhere.
I would never have spotted that. No wonder Google could not translate Dminx.

Re: when typing some letters are blank

Because you have enabled the ligatures ( liga ) OpenType Feature, but have not defined any glyphs for fi, fl, ff, ffi, ffl, ligatures. This feature is enabled by default in Word, etc., so if you don't wish to add it, delete the blank fi and fl characters from your font. Open the Preview Toolbar (F8)...

Re: More details

MainType cannot edit fonts, and should not. All it can do is tag fonts. You can create your own descriptive tags.

Font families that belong in a group are already associated by family grouping.

Re: Small Thumbnails

FontCreator 5 is very old. The earliest version that I have installed is 6.5. The Help File for 6.5 gives the shortcuts to increase the cell size as plus and minus. The size of the cells can also be set in Tools, Options, Overview. Later versions allow one to increase the size of the glyph inside th...

Re: Yes italic, no regular

I have a font, Lekhana, in which the Regular style has a slight slant. To calculate the italic angle, select a couple of nodes, and use the g shortcut to create a guideline. Double-click the guideline, and set it to "Diagonal Angle." Now subtract that angle from 270 to get the italic angle of about ...

Re: Yes italic, no regular

This post in the FAQ explains how to do it for all versions. If you have the Standard or Professional edition, a Transform script can change regular to italic and modify the relevant fields automatically. If you don't want to slant any glyphs, just select the space character, then run the script. Ot...

Re: Strikeout and Underline Position

Could you please confirm that these values doesn't work in Adobe programs or not? I have tested and apparently Adobe does in its own way. Apparently, you have found your own answer. The InDesign or PhotoShop forums would be the place to get a definitive statement. Perhaps they have a way to change ...
