Re: Some thoughts on Projects

Something like a session file should be enough.

It might already be possible with a batch file, but I could not figure out how to open four project files from the command line.

Re: 64bit ID

Try enabling the checkbox to generate naming fields automatically. Perhaps the font was created on another system?

Re: Space Diacritics?

It does not matter as they are not often used alone. Just give them a side-bearing of 50 funits of whatever.

Re: Lost dialog boxes.

Have a look in the Windows Registry if you're happy messing with it. Export the key as a backup first.

Re: Version string doesn't display in installed font

Maybe it's a Windows version problem. I am using the latest Windows 10.

Re: Version string doesn't display in installed font

Windows Font Viewer always shows the installed font, not the one that you open from Windows Explorer. Make sure that you uninstall the old version before installing the new version. I use MainType to manage my fonts, and delete old versions from the MainType database after uninstalling them. I expor...

Re: How would I go about creating my own font?

If you have Illustrator then you can create your letters in that, or do it directly in FontCreator. The drawing tools in FontCreator are more basic than you will find in Illustrator. Watch my tutorial on Drawing Contours in FontCreator 11.0. Import of vector images is much faster and somewhat better...

Re: Mixing Font to Unicode Font

If you don't edit the font metrics of the Unicode font then the line-spacing won't be changed. Paste the glyphs from the Florencesans font after changing the funits/em to make them the right size for the 256 funits/em Unicode font.

Re: Mixing Font to Unicode Font

  1. Select all glyphs in the florencesans font, and copy them
  2. Change the funits/em from 1000 to 256
  3. Paste the glyphs back into the same place
  4. Save as a temporary font
  5. Copy and paste the glyphs that you need

Re: 3 periods not triggering the ellispsis

Just do it in the Code Editor or use the + button to add a new substitution of:

period -> ellipsis

Then edit the input string to "period period period".

Re: 3 periods not triggering the ellispsis

You could, of course, also add a standard ligature for period period period -> elipsis. I use a couple of liga subs for Interrobang and Irony punctuation, which otherwise would probably not get noticed. Ellipsis is a fairly common replacement for Autocorrect, or some know how to type it with Alt+013...

Re: How to change line spacing without changing WinAscent

To set "Use typo metrics for line spacing" I had to set the font version to 5. Can someone tell me what exactly is "font version"? I think you mean Contents and Layout Version. This is what the help file says:- Contents and Layout Version It can take years before operating systems and software supp...

1) Given a string that produces an unexpected result, one needs to search for the relevant glyph and for the lookups that contain it.
In the OpenType Designer Preview area, click on the glyph to go to relevant lookup or on the Preview Toolbar to go to the relevant glyph in the Glyph Overview.
